Watch Horse Racing - Breeders Cup 2009 Free Live Online Stream

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships is an annual series of Grade I thoroughbred horse races operated by Breeders’ Cup Limited, a company formed in 1982. From its inception in 1984 through 2006, it was a single-day event; starting in 2007, it expanded to two days. The location changes each year. All sites have been in the United States, except in 1996, when the races were at the Woodbine Racetrack in Canada.

The event was created as a year-end championship for North American thoroughbred racing, and also attracts top horses from other parts of the world, especially Europe. The Breeders’ Cup was founded in 1982 by John R. Gaines, a leading thoroughbred owner and breeder. Before the Breeders’ Cup expanded to two days, it was generally considered to be the richest day in sports. As of 2008, the second day of the Breeders’ Cup is the second-richest. In 2008, a total of $17 million was awarded on that day, down from $20 million in 2007 (two races were moved from Day 2 to Day 1). The richest single day in sports is now another Thoroughbred racing event, Dubai World Cup Night. It features six races with a combined purse of $21 million in 2008.

Watch Horse Racing York Free Live Online Stream

October 8th, 2009

The York Racecourse Committee, (now part of York Knavesmire LLP) still manages racing at York today, and was formed in 1842, to turn around a decline in the quality of racing. By 1846, the Committee had introduced the Gimcrack Stakes, which has since become one of York’s most enduring races.

York Races’ progression has been reflected in the development of the grandstands over the years. New stands were erected in 1890 to incorporate much of the original building and a major improvement scheme, launched in 1962, led to the opening of the five-tier grandstand in 1965. The programme of development rolled on, and in 1989 the Melrose Stand opened, quickly followed by the award-winning Knavesmire Stand, with additional conference facilities in 1996. 2003 saw the opening of the Ebor Stand containing, amongst other features, the Nunthorpe Suite, kept on racedays for exclusive use by Annual Badgeholders.

In recent years York Racecourse, as well as hosting many spectacular York Races, has also played host to Royal Ascot at York in 2005 and The Ladbrokes St Leger in 2006.

Watch Horse Racing Carlisle Free Live Online Stream

October 8th, 2009

Horse racing in the historic border city of Carlisle dates back to at least the 16th Century and each year Carlisle Racecourse holds the Cumberland Plate and Carlisle Bell races, carrying on a tradition which dates back to that era.

Amongst it’s innumerable ‘claims to fame’, Carlisle launched the first operational Tote on British racecourses in 1929 and notably Red Rum won at the Carlisle September meeting prior to each of his Grand National wins.

Progressive upgrading of the facilities has taken place over the years but none as significant as the construction of a brand new ’state-of-the-art’ The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Grandstand which opened in October 2002. Race goers can now enjoy superb horse racing from their own private box or in the luxury of the Swifts Restaurant.

For conferences, meetings, seminars and exhibitions, the Carlisle Racecourse and Conference Centre offers the most flexible conference facilities in the County.

Located just off Junction 42 of the M6, Carlisle Racecourse offers superb facilities for both race day and non race day events with seven large hospitality rooms all over looking the stunning Cumbrian countryside, a superb exhibition hall, restaurant, multiple bar facilities and over 250 acres of parkland.
