UFC 114 Rampage vs Evans Battle of the Century

UFC 114 Rampage vs Evans Battle of the Century

If you are a follower of UFC then you know UFC 114 is coming up on May, 29 2010.  This bout will feature Quinton Rampage Jackson vs Rashad Evans and should be a very entertaining night of Full Force MMA.
Jackson was originally supposed to fight Evans for the title after defeating Keith Jardine, but a jaw injury during that fight allowed Lyoto Machida to step in in and take his place. At UFC 98 Evans was knocked out by Machida. Jackson was then expected to fight for the title against Machida, but instead became a coach on The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights against Evans.
Quinton Jackson, also known as Rampage Jackson, is an American MMA fighter and actor. Jackson rose to prominence in Japan’s Pride Fighting Championships where he was noted for his powerful body slams including a famous knockout victory over Ricardo Arona. In the United States, he became known for his tenure in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is a former UFC Light-Heavyweight title holder and one of the most entertaining fighters to watch.  Jackson appeared for a second time as a coach on the reality series The Ultimate Fighter opposite Rashad Evans. They were scheduled to fight at UFC 107, but this bout was cancelled when Jackson took a movie role to play B. A. Baracus in The A-Team feature film.

Rashad Evans is an American MMA fighter from Lansing, Michigan, currently signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship where he is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Evans won the heavyweight division of The Ultimate Fighter 2. He holds notable victories over Chuck Liddell, Thiago Silva and Forrest Griffin. Evans trains out of Albuquerque, New Mexico with Jackson’s Submission Fighting. Evans lost the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship by way of knockout to undefeated Lyoto Machida at UFC 98.

Both fighters are very similar in stature and the rivalary between the two is well documented.  Fans on both side of the card have valid arguments over who will come out the victor in this battle.  My money is on Rashad Evans.  He has wanted this fight for some time and will now get his chance to prove that Rampage is all talk (as he so eloquently put it).
Many people from around the world will be watching this fight, including me!  We have searched everywhere to find UFC 114 Live online and have finally found a provider who will offer the fight via live stream on May 29, 2010.  If you are wanting to watch just go to http://ufc114.info and sign up today.  The PPV live stream will begin several hours before the featured fight and you will be able to watch all of the other cards scheduled that night.

Watch UFC 113: Machida v Shogun II Free Live Online P2P Stream

May 6th, 2010

UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun II’ is just days away as the UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida looks to prove his decision victory over the challenger at UFC 104 was no robbery when the two collide in Montreal. The main card also features a quality welterweight battle as the co-main event, potentially explosive lightweight and middleweight bouts and the return to the Octagon of everyone’s favourite backyard brawler, TUF season ten star Kimbo Slice. It’s time to take a closer look at the main card, and what we can expect to see this coming weekend.

Main Event – UFC light-heavyweight title Lyoto Machida (16-0, 8-0 UFC) vs. Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua (18-4, 2-2 UFC)

The main event in Montreal sees the long-awaited rematch for the UFC light heavyweight title, as champion Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida looks to redeem himself in the eyes of the fans against Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua. The two met at UFC 104 in a fight that produced one of the most crowd-dividing decisions in MMA history as Machida took home the unanimous decision and retained his title. This caused uproar, with hoards of fans denouncing the decision as ‘Shogun’ had appeared to not only be the first opponent who had been able to decipher Machida’s elusive style but to land significant damage to the champion in the process. While Machida definitely laid claim to a round or two, I must admit to being firmly in the camp of ‘Shogun’ regarding the decision, as I felt the former PRIDE supremo was the more aggressive and more effective fighter throughout. It will matter for little when the two meet again in Montreal, as both fighters have stated they will be treating this as a completely new challenge. Every MMA fan in the world will have their own opinion on how the fight played out at UFC 104, and I expected Machida to put on another clinical showing and pick apart the challenger, and was pleasantly surprised to see ‘Shogun’ look back to his dominant best as he readily traded strikes with the karate fighter and in my opinion, got the best of those exchanges. Machida was as always elusive and slick in the stand-up and his karate base did cause problems for the challenger, but overall on that night, I feel ‘Shogun’ solved the puzzle of Lyoto Machida and went unrewarded. The problem with that, is Machida will come into the rematch with a far better idea of what Rua will be bringing to the battle, and this could be the deciding factor.

November 18th, 2009

Previously announced match-ups of John Howard vs. Dennis Hallman and Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida  were moved to The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights Finale and UFC 107 respectively.

MMAWeekly.com had reported that Tom Lawlor would fight on the card but he has been moved to UFC Fight Night: Maynard vs. Diaz.

Tito Ortiz was originally scheduled to fight Mark Coleman. However, on October 5, 2009, Ortiz reported that the fight was now off, and it later became known that Coleman was suffering from a knee injury. UFC confirmed that Forrest Griffin would step in to face Ortiz.

Jon Fitch was originally set to fight Ricardo Almeida but Almeida was forced off the card with a knee injury. Fitch was announced to fight Thiago Alves at UFC 107, but Alves was forced to pull out due to an injury during training. Fitch is still on the UFC 107 card and will now be fighting Mike Pierce.

On October 26, UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar pulled out of his fight against Shane Carwin due to an illness (mononucleosis) that has kept him from training for several weeks. While resting in Canada, he collapsed and was hospitalized, and was found to also have a serious intestinal disorder that may possibly end his career. The UFC therefore had the Ortiz v. Griffin fight headline the UFC 106 card.

The main event will feature a rematch between UFC Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar, and UFC Interim-Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir. This title unification bout occurred as a result of former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Randy Couture’s year-long “resignation” from the company. During his absence, the UFC created an Interim-Heavyweight Championship that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira had won by defeating Tim Sylvia. Nogueira and Mir were scheduled to be opposing coaches in The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs Team Mir, and would fight for the interim championship at the conclusion of the show. The Ultimate Fighter is a single-elimination reality series featuring professional MMA fighters competing for the title of The Ultimate Fighter, and a six-figure, multi-fight contract with the UFC.
